For all of you gamers who wish to play your NHL 12 demo (and probably the full NHL 12 game) on the PS3, you better have a television that supports at least 720p or be in for a world of glitchy playback. I have confirmed that the NHL 12 demo when run in 480p on the PlayStation 3 is almost unplayable. Here are some issues I have seen that occurred while playing:
I will try and get these errors documented on video soon but for some reason my PVR keeps messing up when I put it in 480p...
I usually don't take demo's too seriously, mainly because it is an outdated version of the game itself. If you look at the madden demo, the build of the game is prior to E3. However, NHL seems to be largely changed as the skating has been totally altered. Not only that, I find myself not scoring on those "given" plays that have always been there in years past.
One of the first things I noticed was the new skating engine. At first, I felt the game was slow, too slow in fact. But playing it for a while, I actually got use to it and I'd probably rather have this new skating engine. It's much more realistic and positioning means something. Another feature I thought was good, was the defenseman's stick swaying side to side as your holding LT when back skating into your defensive zone. Not only were the D handicapped in that sense last year, the tie-ups in front of the net will help tremendously. Good defenseman are always at a premium in NHL, but I feel there will be some more people playing the blue line in NHL 12.
Only a few days after Albizzler reported that no news has been released for Valve's Portal 2 DLC, it appears that finally Valve has confirmed that the first DLC pack for Portal 2 will be released in mid-September, 2011. For the longest time, Portal 2 owners have feared that the promise of free new content for their game was only a pipe-dream, as Valve claimed last April that the free pack would be released in the Summer of 2011. However, it is nearly the end of August and no knews was being reported about any free DLC other than some pack that included DLC but for over a $100. Now, fans of Portal 2 on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 will all get their copies of the first DLC pack for free.
Now what will be included in the DLC pack is up in the air to me so far. Many rumors include:
So stay tuned to learn more about the upcoming free DLC pack for Portal 2 due out mid-September, 2011.
A question that many gamers who use Steam primarily for game purchases asks is "How do I play these games offline?". Now you would think it would be an easy process, but to many people's dismay it is not that clearcut on how to accomplish offline gaming for Steam. So hopefully this little tutorial will help you out.
I am exited to see that EA Sports has included Steve Yzerman on the Legends Team in NHL 12. Well, they kind of have to when you consider Yzerman being one of the greatest captains of all-time, and one hell of a player to boot. I mean how many professional sports players can you say played for the same team for over 20 years, not to mention being the captain of said team as well. Three Stanley Cups as a player, and then one more in the head office of the Detroit Red Wings shows how much class and skill Steve had not only on the ice but off the ice as well. Now the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Yzerman fits in well with the legend title in NHL 12.
